Hello, my name is Gabrielle Sutton and I am currently the Finance Officer for the society, but I am running for Manager of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Society.
I am running because I want to contribute more so that we can challenge the stigma and ensure that those who have mental health issues have a safe space where they can make friends and be more than just their mental health.
The society itself has given me a safe space where I feel I belong. During my first year of university I felt very alone and isolated. The socials and the members of the society were often a highlight of my first year at university.
As manager, I would like to make more video and audio-based content so that the members of the society can feel more included in what the society is trying to do. Using the skills that I have in audio and video editing will allow me to make the content accessible for all.
I would use social media platforms to push our message further and for sharing information about upcoming awareness days as well as where students can get help and advice from the university if they need it.
