Hi, my name is James Tweddell and I have decided to run for the position of Communications Officer for the Mental Health and Wellbeing society. I am currently a second-year journalism student who is proud to be part of the MHW society.

The reason I have decided to run for the position for next year is quite simple.

I believe it is important that there is always someone making sure that anyone who suffers with mental health issues has someone in their corner to make sure they get the help they need.

I want to carry on the current committee’s legacy while also evolving the society at the same time.

As Communications officer, I would like to use the social media platforms already in place as platform for awareness and information. I would help to create video and audio content and use the platforms for sharing information about upcoming awareness days, making sure that everyone understands and is aware of what help the university offers and making sure people who can’t come to certain socials still feel part of the society.

Since becoming a member of the society last year, the current MHW committee members have helped me out a lot. Whether it was just having a chat, helping me understand what help the university offers and even just reminding me that its okay to have a bad day and that those days do not define who I am, and I can overcome them.

I will maintain an open relation relationship with the Students’ Union and be invested in communication between the members of the society and the Union itself.

I hope you enjoyed my manifesto and that I can count on your vote on 19th March.
