Candidate for the position of Equestrian Club - Club Manager

Harrison Succoia

The previous year has been one of great excitement, and it has been a privilege to support the club in the role of president. I have worked aimlessly to make sure the club runs smoothly and people are happy with the way things go, it would be an honour to stand as president for the club again next year. I’ve strived to make life easier for all members, providing organised transport, good communication between myself and the riding yard and a big achievement was the decrease of the Monday evening lesson fees from £21 to £16. I will continue to work hard to see changes like this within the club that benefit all members. I hope to continue to make sure you feel supported by the club expressing your opinions to the appropriate bodies (e.g. courses for horses, the student union, the university, etc.). The introduction of semester meetings to make sure your opinions are heard is a big importance to me, something that wasn’t part of the previous year. These meetings allow me to engage with members and find out what you are thinking. This year we have seen our first team go to BUCS championship level and although this has been difficult, I couldn’t be prouder of the team and the achievements they have seen. We have also seen the organisation of our first riding holiday. I hope that with the experience I have gained this year, I will be able to make these things even more successful in the coming year. I hope to make the exciting fun days, such as the Christmas fun day and the upcoming Easter fun day, more frequent and more successful next year. I’ve worked well with the team at the union to make sure our club has a voice, and we have finally being recognised as a Sport within the sports department. This has opened up funding for some of our competitions and I am hoping to further this funding into the next year so competitions will be more frequent and more available. This year I have developed my understanding of the running of the club, I have a greater insight into making the club succeed and I will endeavour to continue doing so as long as you guys keep wanting me to. I look forward to the future with the equestrian club and hope to watch it flourish.
