I am a first year LLB student with profound interest in English Law. I have found my inspiration during my mini-pupillage in the High Court of Hong Kong where I acted as a shadow of the defence barrister by interpreting all of his communications with the defendant and by translating all pertinent legal documents. Throughout this four-month long experience in and out of the courtroom I have have gained appreciation and understanding of the law and legal process. Although the defendant was eventually found guilty of serious crime, I had no moral objections to be working on his behalf because in our legal system even the accused have the right to legal representation as this is essential part of the due process.
I am excited to put myself forward as a candidate for the Manager of the Law Society.
My aims are to make the Law Society--
- inspire others and fuel their interest in law and the legal profession
- stage range of activities that educate and enlighten about the law and current developments
- stage social activities
- provide channel of communication and be welcoming to feedback suggestions from its members
- all of this without focus on consumption of alcohol
