Candidate for the position of Myth Society - Finance Officer

Finance Officer - Samuel:

Hi, my name is Samuel Wiltshire, and you may have seen me in the Mythcord as CptPuddleboat.

I am running for the position of Finance Officer within the Myth Society, because in my time at the university, Myth has consistently been my favourite society to take part in, and I would love to see it continue to grow and become better than ever before. In order to achieve this, as the Finance Officer, I aim to:

  • Increase Transparency. I believe that the exact workings of the committee, and how to get in contact with them reliably, has much that could be improved in terms of public view. I would remedy this by being more clear about what we are planning, enacting, and have previously performed. As the Finance Officer, I would be primarily concerned with ensuring it is clear that all of our funds are being put to good use, likely increasing the resources available through our letting program.

  • Increase Presence. I think that it will be instrumental for success as a society that the committee becomes more of a consistently reachable port of call for anybody that might have questions. I will strive to always be available for any assistance, and also be more clear with exactly what people can ask of me to try to achieve.

  • Increase Involvement. I believe that, for the society to be successful, there must be a stronger connection between committee and members, taking the society beyond a method of booking rooms for playing games, and into being a community. I would assist in achieving this by looking into potential fundraising outlets that people can take part in, such as merchandise and events.

All of these go towards the effort to generally improve upon the society as a whole by making changes within its management and exact operation. Altogether, they will improve upon how people view the Myth Society, and help to create an environment for appreciation of all tabletop gaming experiences.
