I’ve been a Pokémon fan for as long as I can remember. I started on the DS with Diamond and evidently, I’m still here keeping up with the series today. When I started university last September, I didn’t know what to expect. With everything being new and unfamiliar, I was able to find solace in an amazing community of other Pokémon fans- the Pokémon society. And now that it’s time for the elections, I’d love the opportunity to help support the society that helped me enjoy my time at university.
I’m applying for the role of Finance Officer, as I believe it’s the most suitable position for my set of skills. My ability to work with money is reflected in prior education, specifically in Enterprise, where I achieved a Distinction grade; and Financial Education, where I achieved an A*. That being said, what’s the use in mentioning grades when skills should be put in practice? Since then, I’ve applied my knowledge to work in ecommerce, even including the sales of Pokémon to competitive players. In order to do this, I had to carry out market research, advertise my services and complete the requests to perfection, ensuring that the process was recorded to provide proof of legitimacy. I love to stay organised, having spreadsheets for both business and for stuff like my personal apriball Pokémon collection. If you still don’t believe me, ask to see my Pokémon Home collection (170 hours playtime yikes). As a member of committee, I think its important to also have experience with general management, engagement with the community and event organisation, even if not primarily handled by the role.
