Hey! I'm Nova (pronouns: they/them) and I'm currently a second year Children’s Nursing student. I am proud of who I am still becoming, after many years of standing by myself for being gay as well as non-binary. I fully comprehend the difficulties that LGBT people still face, and I want to be able to reform this by building on the equality and safety that exists for us students on campus. I would like to run to have the committee role as communications officer as I have created posters for events before which has had a strong turn-out. My superior motive from this is to encourage everyone to feel confident in who they are. Since starting at the university, I have seen myself becoming a stronger-minded person, with more resilience and motivation to never give up. I always cherish having the ability to make changes that benefit the people around me, and this is another perfect opportunity for me to help those people, and to help you! If I was elected for committee for next year, I would want to eliminate fears, drive inclusion and provide support for all LGBTQ+ students particularly by hosting events for the Transition Fund which helps provide financial support for those students wishing to transition who may struggle to do it on their own. I would also give my own guidance on situations from my own personal experiences. Being the LGBTQ+ Representative for DSU next year would be incredible, for having the opportunity to make changes. So please, can you help me with this? Be the change!
