Hi there! I’m Connah, but many know me as Con, or better yet, “the graphic designer with a skirt”. I’m a Level-5 Esports student, primarily involved with event production and Staffs Union crossovers within the course I study, as well as leading the university’s largest Esports university-level organisation; Next Generation Gaming.
As the co-founder of Next Generation Gaming, it’s near and dear to my heart that our teams competing in NSE and NUEL are represented fairly, unproblematically, and to a level that other universities are. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case; We aren’t the Staffs Stampede anymore, and we’re hardly the Staffs Sixers anymore. Esports at Staffs is deduced by you, and your view of the teams you create. Your names, your identities, your colours. I intend to work on creating a perfect balance of management and creativity through the NSE and NUEL role, allowing teams to choose who they are nationally, under no more of a banner than “ Staffs Esports “ - a parent, not a label.
Your autonomy as teams is key to pushing forward the Union’s, and the university’s, identity as being for students, by students. As NSE NUEL representative, I will push to provide every team with the information, feedback, communication and development they need to thrive, with enough autonomy to define who they are, opening a door to opportunities outside of the university when they graduate.
