Hi there! I’m Connah, but many know me as Con, or better yet, “the graphic designer with a skirt”. I’m a Level-5 Esports student, primarily involved with event production and Staffs Union crossovers within the course I study, as well as leading the university’s largest Esports university-level organisation; Next Generation Gaming.
Esports is something near and dear to my heart, and I strongly understand that it is to all of you. Playing games, streaming, hosting events related to gaming, and supporting our in-house esports teams are the core values of what it means to engage with Esports at Staffs. I spent my entire first year dedicated to not only co-creating one of the university’s largest collective of teams, but also working with other teams to ensure their needs were met too.
I’ve spent the last year working closely with the previous manager of Staffs Esports; Lotty, alongside the Students’ Union themselves, to help garner a better and more engaging gaming life within the university, from centralising teams, recognising the ‘little guys’, putting together gaming collaboration events, and helping move past the days of the VGU for a better, more evenly represented future, where gaming societies can be led by people passionate about them, and liaise together for true collaborations. I intend to up the ante as the manager of Staffs Esports; A centralised brand, evenly distributed opportunities, a network of coaching for professional teams, fluid communication with every esports-relevant event on-campus, Stoke-to-London collaboration, socials to meet your peers in dedicated esports facilities, and a crossroads for all gaming societies at Staffs.
Gone are the days of the Sixers and Stampede overlapping, the NSE and NUEL pages being outdated and incorrect, and your successes in Esports being outshined.
Esports should represent you, the player.
Thank you for considering me. <3
