Hi there! I’m Connah, but many know me as Con, or better yet, “the graphic designer”. I’m a Level-5 Esports student closely tied with events and the Students’ Union, additionally leading the university’s largest Esports university-level organisation; Next Gen.
I am beyond proud to be an Esports student, and I think giving that pride back to the students on the course is key to everyone’s enjoyment, regardless of their study level or experience. It’s been my goal over the last two years to ensure my fellow students feel involved and heard, not only as a course/level representative but through my connections with the SU. I am incredibly passionate about ensuring this course is presented meaningfully externally and internally, putting student voices first.
I will not only work to strengthen inter-year communication to ensure that worries from all years are heard, but also push for opportunities for everyone: Celebrating the successes of our teams, helping students bring their events to life, and making it easier for students to access information, people or equipment necessary to fulfil their goals before they graduate.
It’s no secret that some members of the course feel left out, and if elected, I hope to mitigate this once and for all. It’s true that not everybody is interested in events and broadcasting, and as such, I want people to feel comfortable following other goals; business, coaching, or playing games professionally; every opportunity should be taken in stride confidently.
Understandably, communication is a two-way system. I intend to allow easy, optionally anonymous, lines between myself and students, allowing people to air their worries whenever and however they want, and through whatever mediums they wish. I’ll use the feedback provided to then liaise with staff to work on the best solution moving forward, no voices left unheard.
