Associate Membership Terms & Conditions

The terms and conditions of Associate Membership of Staffordshire University Students’ Union are outlined in our Bye Laws, namely Bye Law One: Membership and Provision for Opting Out, which can be viewed in full on our website.

In order to be eligible for Associate Membership of the Students’ Union, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
* You are a core team member of the Students’ Union staff;
* You are a member of staff of Staffordshire University;
* You are the carer of an ordinary member of the Students’ Union (i.e. you are the carer of a current student);
* You are an ex-ordinary member of the Students’ Union (i.e. you are a former student of Staffordshire University).

If your application is successful, you must pay a membership fee of £20 in order for it to be processed and confirmed. Failure to pay the membership fee will result in your application not being progressed further.

If your application is successful, your membership will last for the remainder of the current academic year in which you applied unless it is withdrawn before this time.

As an Associate Member, you will have the ability to:
* Use our commercial services and facilities;
* Join a Students’ Union student-led group where the committee have agreed to extend their activities to Associate Members. You will also need to pay fee for associate membership of that group which is in addition to the fee you pay for associate membership of the Students’ Union;
* Engage in events and activities provided by the Students’ Union.

As an Associate Member, you will not have the ability to:
* Access the Students’ Union’s Advice Service;
* Vote at any Students’ Union meeting, except where otherwise indicated in our governing documents;
* Stand for office or hold any committee roles;
* Vote in an election;
* Influence members in terms of elections and candidate preferences.

Associate Membership of the Students’ Union may be withdrawn from an individual in accordance with our Disciplinary Procedures and Code of Conduct.
