Purchasing
We can only give you so much advice on purchasing a car, the most important being don’t jump at the first car you find! The car is a buyers’ market, there will always be cars for sale and you will always have the cards in your hand.
As a first time driver it is always advised to buy a second hand car, as this will immediately lower your insurance cost. This means keeping on top of the current market, look around for the current price of cars and see what patterns emerge, this way you can keep yourself from getting ripped off and ensuring you’ve not lost money.
Check your paperwork thoroughly, make sure the logbook matches the car registration and chassis number.
Inspect the cars you're interested in carefully, you want to look out for paint damage to the exterior along with the quality of the wheels and windows. When looking at the interior, like anything older it's expected to have wear and tear but you want to look out for obvious things. Are the seats in good condition? Is the gearstick usable? Has the car been kept clean?
Auto Express have put together a quick used Car Checklist which can be found here - https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/used-car-guide/66420/used-car-checklist-what-to-look-for-when-buying-a-second-hand-car
