Proud to be Staffs Story: Formula Student Team

Students, School of Creative Arts and Engineering

Our community is made up of many everyday heroes, many of which we don't ever hear about, but they make a huge difference to lives in and around our community. The Formula Student Team have done some amazing things this year, including volunteering to support the production of essential personal protective equipment necessary to save lives. Thank you to all of our Formula Student Team for making us Proud to be Staffs.

The Formula Student Team Story

"This is based on the group being the finest, most committed and motivated students I have ever experienced in my twenty plus years in education.

Currently members of the team are engaging in charitable and supporting events, some students volunteering in the manufacture of PPE for front line staff and some currently completing a sponsored cycle ride, covering in excess of 800miles for the Charity CALM.

Throughout the lockdown period the students have hosted various online activities, keeping team moral high and unknowingly aiding myself to maintain a sense of purpose and wellbeing during these difficult times.

This group of students are the very essence of the word TEAM, they constantly support each other in good times and bad.

I personally have witnessed a commitment like no other, during the 2019 Formula Student event the team suffered many failures and set backs but never once gave up. I have witnessed heartache, tears, medical emergencies and joy at an unprecedented level which I feel, given that I now know there is a platform to speak of this, should not go unrecognised.

I have marvelled at their continued contributions to the project and  their undeniable work ethic to see the project come to fruition.

I know many other faculty members of staff will echo my sentiments and of course if there is still time to nominate the team for the student group award will do."
