Proud to be Staffs Story: Megan Birney
A proud student told us...
'Megan taught me for research methods and for social understanding of the world modules as part of my Psychology and child development degree.During this time in my second year particularly I found the research methods element so stressful and challenging as I struggle with numbers,statistics and just maths in general.I have an lss due to this.Some weeks just me getting to the session was a massive achievement for me as I would worry incase I couldn’t keep up with the classwork or get something wrong,especially being a mature student.Megan was and is the most kind,caring,compassionate person who shows professionalism,understanding & acknowledged my struggles.She made sure to adapt her teaching style to help me & push me to achieve the research methods work.She was patient & gave me the confidence to carry on having a go and I made it through!Also I was going through a challenging time in my personal life & Megan saw me one day upset-she remained professional at all times but was so compassionate,caring and the time to talk with me and ask if I was ok.So genuine and kind.I didn’t think I could make it to 3rd year with the stress I was enduring out of uni but she encouraged me.She told me ‘keep your eyes on the prize’ and even now in my last semester of my 3rd year when times get tough,I remember what Megan said to me.She really is a credit to Staffordshire University going above and beyond!I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for Megan.She absolutely deserves to be recognised for her dedication and being amazing!!??'
