Proud to be Staffs Story: Ken Sankson, Lisa Hough, Kevin Barry

Senior Management Team, Students' Union

With an overwhelming number of nominations, our Senior Management Team here at the Students' Union have had an enourmous impact on their team and their students this year. Working tirelessly in the background to ensure that our charity and our team makes our Students Proud, this team of people would never usually accept thanks. Thank you though, for making us Proud to be Staffs.

Ken Sankson, Lisa Hough, Kevin Barry's Story

"All three individuals are the true definition of proud to be staffs. Every single thing they do in their role is for Students'. And Ken is absolutely dedicated to his role as the CEO of the Students' Union; he embraces challenges that come his way, and always ensures the decision is always in the interest of students. Ken is an absolute genius and always knows what the best thing to do is in any situation, during my short time at the organisation I have found many examples where he has improved services/systems for the better. Lisa (Who should be Part-Time) does more hours than anyone in the organisation. I cannot even count how many positive impacts she has had for Staffordshire University Students'. Her attention to detail is phenomenal. Not a single thing ever gets missed. Whether that is incredibly dull committee report or a change in one of her colleague's personality, once a problem has identified, she will fight to get it resolved. Every Students' Union needs a Lisa Hough. Kevin is such a positive character at work. Take what you imagine a Finance executive to be, and completely turn it on its head. That is Kev, he is so approachable and friendly and balances student experience with budgeting exceptionally well. In particular, Kev makes me proud as a recent employee in the Higher Education sector; he has become more student-focused than staff who have been at the university for years. What is disheartening from my perspective is that all of this work that they do on a day to day basis is usually overlooked because of their senior positions at the Students' Union. And that's why Proud to Be Staffs is such an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of our unsung heroes. You three make me proud to be staffs"
