Proud to be Staffs stories are examples of the wonderful people and groups in our community and how they make you proud, they are taken from a selection of nominations submitted by our members and each story, each nomination is in with a chance of winning a We Are Staffs Award 2024!

Proud to be Staffs Story: Staffs Women In STEM

A proud student told us that SWIS has...
'-Supported diversity and inclusivity in STEM. Fields for both women and underrepresented backgrounds such as the black community.
-Posted many internships, placements, graduate jobs, insights days, fairs for the group aimed at women and ethnic minorities to help with employability.
-Attended women in tech as a group to support rising women in technology.
-Posted resources to help with university and aid in becoming employable such as the EDGE scheme, certifications and awards available to the community.
-Did a fundraiser together as a group to support little girls getting into STEM subjects. This was all organised and volunteered for by the members.
-Regularly did online study sessions to support female students in their education.
-Will be hosting a motivational event to inspire more people to get into STEM.
-Encourages volunteering, community activities and networking among peers and members.
-Supports university made programs and events by advertising to students in order to help them succeed.
-Worked with different departments such as engineering and computing to support the needs of the members.'
