Proud to be Staffs Story: Su Wright-Lewis

"Sun has been my absolute rock throughout my ODMA. I struggled at the start as I am manager for A&E at two hospitals and then covid started. I had a breakdown as my first assignment was due and the world as a whole had been turned upside down. Su took the time to get to know me and find out my strengths and weaknesses. She helped me restart the course, which if Su wasn’t there I don’t think I would have done it. I have had many ups and downs, as I am sure that many others have too, but I have always found Su to be so supportive and encouraging, even answering the phone whilst on holiday in Greece as I was in yet another emotional state and thinking of just giving up. She is an absolute credit to staffs uni and because of her encouragement, I am actually graduating in July. Also, as a direct result of completing this course, I have secured a massive promotion from a band 5 operational services manager to band 7 Directorate Business Manager. I am so grateful and humbled that I have been able to achieve this, but I am also very conscious that it is Su that has pushed me. She saw something in me that I couldn’t. I will never be able to thank her enough. I’m even going on now to do the fast track CMDA which is crazy. I just hope that Su will still be there. "
