Can I promote my organisation via the Students' Union website and Social Media?
There are many ways in which we can promote your volunteering roles online; by placing a request below we can schedule your promotions into our organisation's communication plan – maximising the reach of your opportunity and effectiveness of your recruitment campaign.
Facebook
Please note that due to the popularity of our Social Media as a promotions channel, Facebook requests normally take three weeks to fulfil.
We aim to post a new piece of content to Facebook once per day; this makes sure that content isn't lost among lots of other posts and is about right to encourage our Facebook followers to engage.
For Facebook, we will need the following from you:
- An image no bigger in resolution than 1200 x 630 pixels OR a video of resolution 9:16 to 16:9 with a maximum size of 4GB;
- A short 280 character post;
- A link to your recruitment webpage or preferred contact email;
- Your Facebook username, so that we can tag you in the post.

Twitter
Please note that due to the popularity of our Social Media as a promotions channel, Twitter requests normally take two weeks to fulfil.
We aim to post a new piece of content to Twitter three times per day; this makes sure that content isn't lost among lots of other posts and is about right to encourage our Twitter followers to engage.
For Twitter, we will need the following from you:
- An image no bigger in resolution than 440 x 220 pixels OR a video of resolution 1:3 to 3:1 with a maximum size of 512mb;
- A short 280 character post;
- A link to your recruitment webpage or preferred contact email;
- Your Twitter handle, so that we can tag you in the post.
Students' Union Website
As with many websites, we have an active news feed that every user of our website will see each time they visit. We aim to only add two new pieces of Volunteering Content a week, as this is about right to ensure that the messages are not lost among others on the site.
For our website, we will need the following from you:
- An image no bigger in resolution than 1200 x 630 pixels;
- A short leader of no more than 100 characters;
- An article of no more than 100 words, which may include additional pictures and video if you wish; OR
- A link to your recruitment webpage or preferred contact email;
Volunteering Mailing Lists
Every fortnight students who have signed up to the Volunteering Mailing list receive an email from the Students' Union suggesting randomly selected opportunities from the Do-It.org database. This email will also include a selection of Volunteering Provider articles from our website; this is automatically produced based upon the articles on our Website.
The Students' Union Newsletter
We generate a Newsletter to our Students every month, which includes many key updates, offers and news articles. Occasionally, the Students' Union may include articles on volunteering, including those submitted by volunteering providers. However, we are unable to guarantee that your content will be included in this Newsletter.
