The event featured influential speakers: Alicia de Burgh from Bet365, Sharna Latch from Synectics Solutions, and Edward Barton, a recent graduate now flourishing at Codeweavers Ltd. Their participation brought a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experiences that deeply resonated with attendees.
Valuable Insights and Practical Guidance Our guests shared essential information about career opportunities in the tech industry, detailing application processes, company values, and what to expect when stepping into various roles. Each speaker offered unique perspectives, bridging the gap between academic life and professional success.
The Power of Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone The overarching theme of the evening was “getting comfortable with the uncomfortable.” Attendees were encouraged to step beyond their usual boundaries by networking and actively engaging with recruiters and peers. It was fantastic to see members asking insightful questions, sharing their aspirations and challenging themselves to seize new opportunities.
Interactive Presentations and Networking Success The event began with comprehensive presentations covering different job roles, key considerations when choosing career paths and resources for finding opportunities. We then transitioned to company-led talks, where recruiters from Bet365 and Synectics Solutions provided detailed insights into their hiring processes and what they look for in candidates. The evening culminated in a vibrant networking session, where students had the chance to connect one-on-one with industry representatives and peers. The society’s custom career resources, including company role sheets and interview prep questions, proved invaluable as attendees practiced and honed their networking skills.
A Grateful Community The feedback from both students and recruiters was overwhelmingly positive. Our members’ proactive engagement and readiness to learn left a lasting impression. A huge thank you to Alicia, Sharna, and Edward for dedicating their time and expertise to this event. Your contributions made a meaningful difference and inspired the next generation of tech talent.
