University of Staffordshire lit up with vibrant colours and joyous energy as students, families, and staff from around the world came together to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, at the LRV. Hosted by Mick, Danielle and myself, the Diwali 2024 celebration was a vibrant success, with students across different backgrounds and cultures joining in, many dressed in their traditional attire, to honour this beautiful tradition.

Hosted by Mick, Danielle and myself, the Diwali 2024 celebration was a vibrant success, with students across different backgrounds and cultures joining in, many dressed in their traditional attire, to honour this beautiful tradition.
The day was packed with activities that drew enthusiastic participation from attendees of all ages. The henna station and arts-and-crafts table became particularly popular, with students, families, and children diving into the festivities to create beautiful designs and crafts. The hands-on activities let everyone dive into the Diwali spirit, bringing people together in a fun and creative way.
In a thoughtful gesture, DEGS Society gifted each guest a small idol of Lord Ganesh, symbolizing prosperity and goodwill, as a heartfelt token of appreciation. This thoughtful gesture added warmth to the day, making everyone feel more connected to the celebration.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the desi dance floor, which saw students coming alive with energetic moves and lively dance-offs. In an atmosphere filled with upbeat music and cheers, students competed in dance-offs, showing off their best moves and competing for the top dancer title. Prizes were also awarded to the best-dressed students, honouring those who embraced Indian culture with pride and style.
The Diwali celebration was a joyful, multicultural event that went beyond borders and brought together everyone at Staffordshire University in the spirit of unity. It was truly heartening to see home students and international students alike celebrating together, sharing in the traditions and joy of Diwali. The festival served as a beautiful reminder of the power of unity and cultural exchange, lighting up not only the night but the hearts of everyone involved.
