Thank you to: Jamie Cooper

Student | Mario Kart Society

A proud student told us:

"Jamie has created and run the Mario Kart society since October 2022, which has allowed dozens of students to come together and come out of their shells, inspiring healthy competition and creating friendships. These sessions allow students well needed time together and run without fail, alleviating boredom and creating much needed routine and downtime for members. His dedication to the society and its members truly cannot be overstated, and he’s not just a manager but a mentor and someone to look up to for the entire group. This especially applies to younger and newer students (including myself) who have found a community through his work. There is always something going on, whether that’s regular, online or other sessions that shows how he has gone beyond and above for his society and for his members.

Jamie has helped foster communications between campuses (free memberships to MKS for London students) and universities (creating a university Mario Kart league that has only grown since its inception, as well as recently bringing MKS to NerdKon, further bringing us closer to the Keele student body) Helped to run so many collaborations between societies that I cannot even name them all. There’s the GG event, which has only grown since its inception and the Nintendo Collabs, all of which inspire society collaboration and communication, helping people find further interests and camaraderie within the student body. In any situation he’s a troubleshooter and a prime example of how to run an event, regardless of issues or location, and I truly attribute much of these events’ success to his experience, ability to work under pressure and management of his committee and the venues. Events like GG and the collabs are so very valuable to the campus and perfectly represent the gaming culture of the university.

Thank you for always supporting your committee, for helping to build and inspire a community that only grows and strengthens as the time goes on, and thank you the most for your fortitude, your passion, and your friendship. You’re a credit to MKS, the Stoke campus, and the university at large."

Thank you Jamie for making a positive difference for students here at Staffs.
