Do you have a great idea that will help to make our campuses more environmentally sustainable? Would you like the opportunity to win funding, to turn that idea into a reality?
JOIN THE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE
As part of the launch of SustainStaffs – the University's newly branded sustainability campaign - you are invited to submit your proposal for a more sustainable campus to this competition, and be in with the chance of receiving project funding.
Potential themes for project entries might include: ideas for improving our recycling; how to reduce food waste or reduce printing on campus; ways to replace consumables with items from more sustainable sources; or simply helping other people to make more sustainable choices in their day to day lives.
The competition is open to staff and students of Staffordshire University, and can be entered as individuals, or as groups, including groups made up of both students and staff.
This is a great opportunity for our community to cocreate a more sustainable future, and in support, the University has committed to funding viable projects up to a total of £50,000. But your project doesn’t have to cost thousands – smaller initiatives which will have an impact are also welcome alongside larger ideas.
Projects submitted as entries should ideally finish by 31 July 2021, and must create measurable impact within an identifiable timescale and contribute to achieving an aspect of our strategy as set out in the University’s Environmental Strategy and Framework.
The closing date for submissions is Monday 30 November 2020. Submissions will be shortlisted by the University’s Sustainability Group, and those shortlisted will be invited to present their idea to a panel of peers drawn from the University and the Students’ Union on Friday 4 December 2020.
If you have the perfect project in mind but are unable to meet this deadline, don’t worry - there will be a second round of the competition, with a deadline in February 2021, which will allow you to submit your project in Semester 2.
To enter the competition, please download and complete the entry form and return it to Sally Liggins at s.liggins@staffs.ac.uk by Monday 30 November 2020 .
(Please note, the entry form also includes the competition terms and conditions – please read these carefully before submitting your entry.)
If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Sally Liggins at s.liggins@staffs.ac.uk
Good luck and we look forward to being wowed by your ideas!
