Some proud students told us...

"As the group has been adopted this year it has had its ups and downs, but the members have still risen in numbers. From expecting only around 10-15 it stands at 29. The group come together and have general discussions as well as occasionally there have been debates which has brought people out of their shells and have grown in confidence. There has been a visit by a practising solicitor to give his account of what life is like in a Law Practice and to answer questions from the students."

"The Law Society went to London for their Moot Final, which was judged by Lord Stephens, Justice of the Supreme Court. The finalists had to form an argument for a Tort Law problem which was supplied by the Supreme Court. They had to make up a Skeleton Argument as well as a full bundle. The deadlines were very strict and were the same as what would be expected for anyone making a submission to the Supreme Court. For any Law Student taking part in something of this magnitude is like an Actor/Actress winning an Oscar. Even from a spectators point of view it was an indescribable feeling."

"The law society has helped me make a lot of meaningful connections with the people on my course (on all levels). As well as this, it has gifted all members with the experience of a lifetime by going to the Supreme Court in London. The law society has helped me gain confidence and I highly recommend it for people on any type of degree."

"I believe that the Supreme Court trip is worthy of the event of the year award. I believe this because it has helped the University develop further connections as well as the people who attended. It gave a professional mooting experience to members and they were able to have Lord Justice Stephens judge this. It was a wonderful and interesting experience for all members involved. We represented the University of Staffordshire that day and in my opinion, it could not have gone better."

"What a phenomenal year this group has had. Since September, the Law Society have consistently been working to make their group accessible to all students, actively promoting the group as a fun and inclusive society where all students, not just those studying law, can get involved and learn something new. Mike and Oliver have worked so hard to make their sessions' timings flexible for those with different timetables and working around students' personal lives, understanding that many students have families and jobs outside of their course. The group recently took part in a Supreme Court visit, spending months planning and prepping for the experience, which has allowed 25 students to experience a realistic court setting and what they could be doing when they graduate. This experience has been a true testament to the committee's dedication to their societies, and their willingness to work with lecturers and the Students' Union to ensure their members can benefit from as much as possible whilst completing their studies."
