Len's November Updates
This regularly updated page will help you track what Len has been up to throughout November 2023...
06/11 - Last week was a mix of annual leave and being off campus for me. I met with other Sabbatical Officers from different Student's Unions at Gloucestershire University to discuss current issues students are facing on campus around the country; it was a great networking opportunity and a chance to come together to talk about shared goals.
13/11 - Last week, I did extensive work toward the Engagement Deal, meeting with university colleagues to develop a Theory of Change for it. I pitched the proposal to the liaison committee, which has progressed to build a business case to go to the university's Strategic Change Board. Following this progress, I hosted a round table creative 'What if' session with staff to identify issues. We also did outreach work with Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College!
20/11 - I had a busy week, attending graduation on Tuesday and taking part in our Rep Council on Wednesday. I also did some external partnership work with Enterprise Holdings; we are looking at providing a collaboration early next year!
27/11 - On Monday of last week, I attended a vigil for Trans Day of Remembrance. I also had my first meeting for the Basic Needs Survey, sorting out my focus: student housing and Student Finance. The Officers met with Martin Jones and the COO to get reassurances about the situation reported in the press this week. We hosted the Annual Members Meeting, and I have also been preparing for the Board of Governors this week.
