Events and Activities of Staffs Dance Club
In the past three years, the club have gone to 6 dance competitions, including their favourite, Go Hard or Go Home in Nottingham, and won trophies in Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-hop and commercial over the years!
Last year they their first dance showcase to allow friends and family to come and see what they had created over the year.
This year, they did two competitions, the Nottingham Trent Dance Competition and Go Hard or Go Home. At Go Hard or Go Home they placed in all the three categories the club participated in. The club also ran a range of different open classes teaching different styles of dance such as contemporary, burlesque and technique classes.
Going forward the club is hosting a dance showcase at the end of the year. Showing all their competition dances and new ones they have created and hopefully having performances from a couple other societies.
Why join the Staffs Dance Club?
One of the main benefits of being part of the dance society is that it is a brilliant way to do some exercise. It also allows you to meet new people and make friendships with other people at the university that you never meet otherwise. Joining the club allows you to learn new skills, rediscover a passion or continue to pursue dance as you get your degree.
The committee members say.
“It’s got something for everyone and all abilities! We have fun whilst also working hard to make some amazing dances!” – Jennifer Rowley, Manager.
“It allows people of all abilities to come together and do something they are passionate about, as well as discovering new skills we might not know we had.” – Isobelle Fry, Manager.
“I love the sense of camaraderie we have among the group, and dance feels like a place we can have fun and express ourselves.” - Rosie Landon, Finance Officer.
“It accepts all types of dancers, from years of experience, too little, to none at all, encouraging confidence and friendship at the same time.” – Eleanor Bates, welfare Officer.
