This week, our spotlight shines bright on a brand-new and exciting addition to our vibrant student community: the Ukrainian Society of Staffs!
This newly established society is a welcoming space for Ukrainian students and anyone with an appreciation for the rich and diverse Ukrainian culture to come together, share their interests, and celebrate Ukrainian heritage.
In a university as diverse as ours, the creation of such a society offers a vital sense of belonging and community for students who share a common cultural background. It also provides a fantastic opportunity for the wider student body to learn about and engage with Ukrainian traditions, fostering intercultural understanding and friendship.
Even though it's a new group, the founders of the Ukrainian Society of Staffs are full of enthusiasm and ideas. As the members quotes –
"It is a place where I can have a good time and share common cultural traditions and find people with similar interests." - Tatiana, the society manager.

Future Plans
They have planned a picnic in Hanley, offering a relaxed and informal setting to meet fellow members.
They also have exciting plans for Christmas in the pipeline. They are particularly looking forward to bringing a touch of Ukrainian festive cheer with a big Christmas celebration featuring traditional Ukrainian carolling.
