Staffordshire University Racing compete in Formula Student, and come home smiling.
Staffordshire University Racing have again done us all proud, in competing in this years Formula Student competition.
Formula Student is Europe’s most established educational engineering competition which uses motorsport to inspire students
Backed by industry and high-profile engineers such as Patron, Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering.
Staffordshire University's Motorsport Technical Specialist, Martin Dunn took his team of super dedicated students to Silverstone in July to compete in the demanding competion, which saw the team place 4th overall.
They also walked away with wins for:
- Formula Student Shootout Winner (Alex McFarlane)
- Formula Student Furthest Travelled Cone (Alex McFarlane)
This was the culmination of many months of hard work, dedication and late nights, designing, building, testing and showcasing this year's car, built right here in the workshop on College Road.
Participating in the project gives students the opportunity to learn and develop a whole host of skills, including teamwork, time manegment, project management, budgeting and negotiating with partners to secure sponsorships. The skills and experience gained will undoubtedly benefit students in their future careers and no doubt great memories were also made too.
