What is the By-Election?

The Leadership Race By-Election is in full swing! But what exactly is it and how does it work?

It's that time of the year - the Leadership Race By-Election is back! So, we've pulled together some of the questions we hear about the Leadership Race...

What even is the Leadership Race?

Put simply, the Leadership Race is the name we use for all the elections we run as your Students' Union. These are used to elect students like you into leadership and representative roles around the Union.

Wait-- So what makes the by-election different?

We run two elections each year - one in semester one and one in semester two - and the by-election is the smaller, semester-one election! This election is used to elect students into roles that we still have open from the spring Leadership Race or any new roles.

Sounds great! When is it happening?

Nominations are open right now! Head to our Leadership Race page now to check out what positions you can run for and nominate yourself. Voting then opens at 10am on the 8th of October - make sure you have your say and cast your vote!

Help! I have more questions!

No problem! Our Student Voice team LOVE to talk elections, so feel free to drop us an email at studentvoice@staffs.ac.uk! If you study on our Stoke campus, you can also drop into the Students' Union office on College Road (above the Ember Lounge). If you're at our London or Stafford campuses, you can also chat to your Site Coordinator, Connor or Jess, about elections.
