Some proud students told us...

"Being part of Wii Staffs has been an unforgettable highlight of my university experience. What started as a simple love for Wii games has grown into a supportive and dynamic community where students come together to have fun, de-stress, and build lasting friendships. One of the biggest benefits of this group is the sense of connection it fosters. University life can be stressful, but Wii Staffs provides a space where students can take a break, bond over nostalgic games, and engage in friendly competition. Whether it’s an intense Wii Play Tanks match, a chaotic Super Mario Bros playthrough, or a perfectly timed Wii Sports strike, these moments create shared memories and laughter that bring us closer together. Personally, being part of Wii Staffs has given me more than just great gaming experiences—it has provided a true sense of belonging. Through weekly game nights, tournaments, and casual hangouts, I’ve met incredible people from different backgrounds who share the same enthusiasm for gaming. This group has helped me break out of my comfort zone, improve my teamwork and leadership skills (especially when organizing events), and even relieve academic stress in the best way possible. The impact of Wii Staffs goes beyond the games themselves. It’s about creating a positive and inclusive space where anyone—whether a competitive player or a casual gamer—feels welcome. It has made my student experience far more enjoyable and has shown me the power of community built on shared interests. I’m proud to be part of Wii Staffs because it’s not just about playing games—it’s about the friendships, the fun, and the unforgettable moments that make university life even better.

"Being part of Wii Staffs isn’t just about playing games—it’s about creating a space where students can relax, connect, and have fun."

"When I was asked to become a committee member when Wii Staffs was founded, I jumped at the opportunity without actually knowing what I was getting into. It’s been a new thing for me but I’ve loved every bit of it, the sessions are a great way to decompress and socialise and all in all just have fun! It’s an honour to be apart of the running of this retro society and being one of the people who are providing these sessions to our members who have been and continue to be incredible and such a crucial and valuable piece to what makes our society great!"

"This benefits student because it’s fun to play games we used to play in childhood again. It’s always the highlight of my Mondays and made it easier to make friends ."

"Wii Staffs has, since its very inception earlier in the academic year, has always strived to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for members and spectators alike. From Ember tournaments bringing new life to the space and new eyes to the breadth of gaming societies, to becoming an invaluable part of the GG events, Wii staffs has always conducted and organised high calibre events. Becoming a member, and then part of its sub-committee has given me the opportunity to watch the society grow from strength to strength and given me an incredible sense of community. Just niche enough to keep things interesting, and just broad enough to welcome members of all interests, it perfectly encapsulates the campus’ gaming culture."

"I am able to feel really involved with the society and it's members, and has made a positive impact on my student experience allowing me to socialise and come together around a common set of interests. The events held have been well executed, been varied in content and have been a good time to attend."

"I am proud to be part of this group because it has helped me meet lots of new people, and also relive some nostalgia from being a child. It is great to be able to bond with people over games we would play as kids, while also bringing back a new aspect of the games, things that I would often find difficult as a kid and therefore wouldn't do that level. It also lets you find new games that you didn't play as a child, and build new experiences, with new people. It is great to be able to spend a few hours a week just relaxing, being able to take my mind off of other things that may be going on, and just be able to chill for a while."

"I am proud to be part of this society because of the people who attend and run it, its always great to meet new people there by just playing games together and having a common game we used to play in our childhoods. Its helped me make new friends in my first year of Uni and has helped with my social skills too! Overall, its had a great positive difference since joining."

Thank you Wii Staffs for making a positive difference for students here at Staffs.
